Yes—you can use your Chocolate Visa card to tap in and out of MRT stations and buses across Singapore. No more top-ups or ticket queues—just tap and go.
Here’s how it works, what to expect, and how to stay on track if something goes wrong.
🚇 Tap with your card or phone
You can choose to tap your physical Chocolate Visa card directly at the gantry/bus reader, or use Apple Pay or Google Pay with your Chocolate card added to your mobile wallet. Both work just like a contactless bank card.
📌 You don’t have to register with SimplyGo to ride. Tapping your card or mobile wallet directly at the gantry or on the bus reader is enough to board.
✅ Optional Tracking with SimplyGo
If you'd like to track your MRT and bus trips, you can link your Chocolate Visa card to SimplyGo, the Land Transport Authority’s official fare tracking system.
How to link your Chocolate card to SimplyGo:
- Go to www.simplygo.com.sg or download the TL SimplyGo app.
- Log in or create an account.
- Go to “My Cards” and select “Add Card”.
- Enter your Chocolate Visa card details.
Once added, your trips will be recorded automatically, and you can view fare breakdowns, trip logs, and travel history anytime.
🔎 Note: While you can track your rides with SimplyGo, you cannot top up EZ-Link cards, SimplyGo EZ-Link cards, or concession cards using your Chocolate Visa card. Fares are charged directly from your Chocolate account—no stored value required.
💰 Adult Fares Apply
When using contactless bank cards (like your Chocolate Visa), mobile wallets, or SimplyGo EZ-Link cards for travel, regular adult fares will apply. Concession fares are not available with these payment methods.
👉 View the full adult fare table here: https://www.simplygo.com.sg/travel-fares/adult-fares/
💳 When Will You See the Charges?
You won’t see the fare deducted from your Chocolate account immediately. Charges are deducted and show the following day in your Chocolate app under transactions.
So if you took the MRT this morning, expect to see the fare reflected tomorrow. Use SimplyGo if you’d like to check fare amounts or trip history in the meantime.
Psst: You can earn Max miles on your transport when you link your Chocolate card to HeyMax. Learn more here.
⚠️ What If Your Card Gets Declined?
If your Chocolate account doesn’t have enough money when the fare is processed, your card may be temporarily blacklisted by the SimplyGo system.
Here’s how to fix it:
- Top up your Chocolate account.
- Tap again at the gantry—even if it still declines, this signals to the system that funds are available.
- The block is usually lifted automatically within 24 hours.
❗Having Issues at the Gantry?
If you're seeing an "invalid card" message or your Chocolate card was rejected at MRT or bus gantries, it could be due to a few common reasons:
1. Insufficient Funds
Check you have enough balance in your Chocolate app.
2. Your card Is frozen in the app
Check if your card was manually frozen in the Chocolate app. A frozen card can’t be used for any purchases—including transport.
💡 To fix: Go to your Chocolate app → Card → Unfreeze.
3. Card not activated
If your physical card hasn’t been activated in the app, it won’t work—even if your balance is fine.
✅ To activate: Go to Card in the Chocolate app and follow the activation steps.
4. Card limits reached
You may have set daily or per-transaction spending limits on your card and unknowingly hit those limits.
👀 Check and adjust limits: Chocolate app → Card → Card Settings → Spending limits
If none of these apply, and your card is still being rejected after 24 hours, contact our support team—we’re here to help.
With Chocolate, your everyday transport becomes seamless.
No top-ups, no queueing—just tap, go, and track when you need to.
Happy travels!
